After a 20 day break from football, the Eidsvoll 1814’s traveled to Trondheim to compete against the Nidaros Domers in their second regular season game of the year. The 1814’s didn’t seem to miss a beat in their return to the gridiron, defeating the Domers 35-6.
Eidsvoll got the ball first and it didn’t take long for, import running back, Aaron Harris to accelerate through the Domers defense for a 75 yard touchdown run. Tor Erik Stensjøen converted the extra point to make the score 7-0. Tor was perfect on the day converting all 5 extra points for the 1814’s.
On the ensuing drive the Domers were only able to pick up one first down, before being forced to punt. Eidsvoll continued their defensive dominance throughout the game forcing 4 interceptions and allowing only 145 total yards. Brian Moro lead the defense with two interceptions on the day. Martin Gusterud and Riley Bowen also came down with one interception each. Eidsvoll’s defensive line played tough, shutting down the running game and also rushing the quarterback.
Offensively, Eidsvoll was then able to score 4 unanswered touchdowns stretching the lead to 35-0. Geir Hoel took the midday train for a ride as he powered his way to a 33 yard touchdown run. The next two drives were ruled by the passing game as Eivind Brekke threw two touchdown passes, both times connecting with Arne August Skovseth Søgaard. Eidsvoll’s offensive line played extremely well, creating space for the running game and giving Brekke time to find the open receivers downfield.
The Nidaros Domers faught hard through the entire game and found there way into the endzone late in the 4th quarter which completed the scoring for the day bringing the final score to 35-6.
All in all, it was a great day for the Eidsvoll 1814’s as they continue their journey through the 2015 American football season. It was a great team effort from the 1814’s to secure their second win of the year. Eidsvoll will play their first home game on Sunday May 10th against the Vålerenga Trolls at Bøn Stadion. Come out and support your local American football team. We look forward to seeing you there.
